Restaurant Review: Happy Wok PDF Print E-mail

There's a new Chinese restaurant over int he Schnucks plaza off Vogel.  My wife and I tried it out last night, and weren't totally impressed.

My wife were in the mood for Chinese, and driving by Schnucks we decided to stop into the new Happy Wok and grab a menu.  While I was in there, I asked them if they delivered, which they do not.

Back home, we called and ordered the Garlic Chicken and the Szechuan Chicken.  I've never had the latter before, so I didn't know what to expect.

When I went to pick up the order, I took in a business card and offered the man a discount on advertising over at ArnoldTalk.com.  He looked at the card, said thank you, then started speaking in another language to his friend, who was mopping the floor.  They spoke for a minute then laughed.  All the while he was looking at my card.

He finished the credit card and off I went, a bit annoyed.

When I got home, both dishes looked the same.  My wife and I could not tell which was which.  So much, in fact, that we couldn't taste garlic in either one.  We either got the wrong order, or both items were VERY similar.

Whatever it was that we had, it wasn't bad.  The crab rangoons were sweet but tasty.  I wish I could tell you what dinner I had, but I cannot, but it tasted fine.

All in all the experience was just ok.  With the men speaking rudely and laughing, they obviously aren't interested in building local relationships with business owners.  The restaurant was clean and the food was good (whatever it was!)
