Arnold, Missouri (November 1, 2006) – Will Hanke, father of three boys and owner of Lighthouse Technologies Web Design Studio in Arnold decided to take his kids fund raising campaign to a new level – the Internet.
Hanke’s creative juices started flowing back in September when his boys’ Cub Scout Pack announced that they’d be selling popcorn again this year. The money raised goes directly into each boy’s account and can be used Popcorn Fundraisertowards summer camps, den outings and even den dues.
Everyone knows the drill: Take the forms to work and set them on the table next to the other fundraisers that other parents are already promoting. The pure thought of doing it is depressing but it got Hanke thinking. Since he worked on the Internet, why take this otherwise local fundraiser and promote it nationwide?
So was born a website. Aptly named “popcorn”, the site lets visitors view all the popcorn products his boys are promoting, along with some magazine vouchers. Customers can purchase with credit card (try that at work!) and can even have the popcorn shipped to them before Christmas.
“The boys are thrilled with the idea. They’ll get to learn a bit about e-commerce, customer satisfaction and shipping. They will be packaging all of the popcorn themselves and I’ll help them get it all to the Post Office. It should be a great learning experience in so many ways.” Hanke says.
The website will only take orders through November 27th, because the money is due the following day. Orders will be shipped out at the beginning of December and should be delivered in plenty of time to get ready for Christmas guests.
Popcorn and magazine vouchers are available from $8.00 to $40.00. All products can be found at http://Popcorn.TechLH.com
